On September 5th the RDOS Board of Directors, in the Planning and Development Committee meeting, accepted “Keeping Nature in our Future”: A Biodiversity Conservation Strategy for the South Okanagan-Similkameen as a guiding document for the Regional District and the amendment of official community plans. Bryn White gave an overview of the public consultation process that occurred earlier this year. Information meetings were held in Oliver, Osoyoos, Okanagan Falls, Princeton, Keremeos, Naramata, and Penticton. The document was also presented to Electoral Area Advisory Planning Commissions. There were a number of positive comments about the SOSCP’s work around the Board table and a commitment to work on implementation of the strategy.
